This is the Vismarkt, or fish market, in the city centre. It’s a lively area with plenty of bicycle and human traffic. The Domtoren is close by and so is the Museumkwartier, another beautiful neighbourhood. In the background of this photograph is Utrecht’s old city hall, now replaced by a modern-looking building next to Utrecht Centraal.
If you were to follow the pavement and walk towards the old city hall, then make a left turn, you’d find yourself in the restaurants and café portion of the Oudegracht. I photographed just this section a couple of weeks ago.
