Føroyar: 18 Rocks in the North Atlantic

I didn’t realise it’s been over a month since my last post. I blame that on my thesis, which I am now done with. To celebrate, I thought I’d go on a little trip to the Faroe Islands. This is a constituent country of the Kingdom of Denmark located about halfway between Norway and Iceland.

The best way to get there from the Netherlands is through Copenhagen. SAS operates several flights a day from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport to Copenhagen, where one then switches to Atlantic Airways (the Faroese national carrier) to fly to Vágar Airport. Kayaking is also an alternative, though not one that I’d recommend.

I’d write a little more about the islands, but I’m tired so I shan’t. Here’re some photos from my first day, taken on the islands of Vágar and Sandoy.
