Black sandy beach at Landeyjahöfn, South Iceland. Vestmannaeyjar can be seen in the background, and there is a ferry service to the islands from Landeyjahöfn. Two of the peaks are the volcanoes Eldfell and Helgafell. Eldfell last erupted in 1973, while Helgafell has been quiet for some millenia.
I highly recommend hiking to Eldfell’s summit if visiting Vestmannaeyjar; the view at the top is nothing short of spectacular on a good day (see this post).
